What's been happening lately in my Posh closet/

Another month has gone by and I've not posted!  It's not that I've lost interest but that life has been happening.

So, what's going on with my closet?

First, I appreciate my friends.  Several of them have given me more items to sell in my closet.  Incredible items and some I chose not to sell but keep for myself.  They, of course, were ok with that.

One gave me a brand new Dooney and Bourke purse.  It still has the tag, tissue, and even the bag it came in!  It is listed for $150.  Originally, $198!  https://poshmark.com/listing/Dooney-Bourke-Red-Pebble-Camera-Crossbody-Bag-6a56ad1b955383ab427d7980

Another gave me two Orca Coatings mugs that are still in the foam packaging.  I need to get these listed.  I'm thinking one for $25 or both for $40.  I did some research and the website for the company does not list prices.  Used ones were listed on Etsy for $12 to $20 or more.  So, I'll start here and be willing to negotiate.
In fact, I have so much from my friends that I'm not even shopping my usual thrift shops/  I do not need any more.  I need to clear some out.

So, how about a great deal just for you who read this post?  Go to my closet My Posh Closet  create a bundle with all your likes, comment "I read your blog", and I will send you an incredible offer!

Or, would you like to make money on Poshmark too?

Life happens! That's why I've not posted lately.

I have too much stuff so I've not been shopping.  I have had some really good sales.

I sold a few dresses, tops, and an evening bag.  Profits from recent sales were a surprising $200!!!

That's good for me.

The last few days I have not done any sharing, offers, follows, adding new items, nothing.

Isn't this dress gorgeous.  It's one of that string of great sales.

I received 5 star ratings so far on everything. And, some nice comments.

Maybe I will get a few return buyers.

Learning something new everyday!  Some "stuff" I just noticed on Poshmark.

I said before that I love the latest update from Poshmark.  It is much, much better.  I love how it looks and the additions they made like the easier to use tools and better-looking layout.

Today, I explored a little more deeply into things.  I love that we can now see data on each and every item in our closet.  This data can help me see what's getting shown, seen, clicked, and more.

This is a gorgeous dress at what, I believe, is a very good price.

I bought it at a Teen Challenge thrift shop.  I would not have even considered it because it cost me 15 or 20 dollars.  But, when your adorable grandson picks it out and feels very strongly that it will sell, what else is there to do but get it. And, I did.  My research showed its original price was $500. I listed it at $99 eventually.

It has had 201 Impressions which means it has appeared in feeds and ads that many times.  It has been listed longer than 89 days.  I edited it at least once by creating a copy, deleting the original and updating it.  That resets the days listed.

It has only 1 like which is disappointing.  Only 25 clicks?  That means only 25 lookers actually clicked on it to find out more about it.  I've made an offer on it 5 times.  Guess that one liker is the recipient of all of those.

What does all this tell me?  I honestly do not know except ask myself "What more do I need to do?"

I already share at least 3 times a day.  I respond to likes as quickly as I can.  I send a message to my shoppers only once a month because people do get tired of all the spam coming their way. I share on Pinterest every time I share to followers.  I put ads on Instagram.  And, I do this blog.

I believe my listings are presentable especially the ones with the virtual models I make with Photoroom. I also believe my descriptions are thorough and well-written. I am inconsistent with adding measurements.

However, I've sold 35 items and earned over $300 this month.  That's definitely an uptick compared to pre-changes to the app.

Overall, I am happy with Poshmark and will continue to sell.  I cannot spend all day sharing but I could do more than 3 times a day.  I need to update listing older than 60 days more often too.

New Look; New Items

Poshmark updated and I like it!

Poshmark is always exporing ways to make the site/app better for buyers and sellers.  I love the newest update even if I can't find how to add stories anymore.  I doubt the ones I did do made any difference.

The new layout is clean and easy on the eyes.  The pictures are better in portrait rather than square and the ones I do in Photoroom translate really well to Posh.

I used to get upset on any app that changed all the time.  Whenever I opened my computer and it looked different, I would freak. I'd joke that men must be in charge because when they have a tv remote they cannot last five minutes before they are looking through the guide or changing channels or, worse, checking what is going to be on later that day or in a few days.   My husband does this often.  He'll have a show on and think of something he wants to record in the future or there's some info he wants to check and he will start flipping all over the place.  I prefer to keep it on the channel until the show is over!

Now, I just take change in stride.  It is going to happen and it is totally out of my control.  I just "explore" all the tabs and screens that appear now in the app and know where the things are that I need. Everything is usually still there and if it isn't and it is something users like or need, then I email Posh support and share my thoughts on it.  They listen to feedback.   In the world of online companies, I rank Poshmark #1 in responding to concerns.  They act fast and the response is always professional.

I do not have all the update items yet but I am looking forward to seeing more info on my stats/progress easier and not have to download an excel document so I can analyze the data.

It's still a very easy app to use whether you are buying or selling no matter the changes they make.

I love that I can order my free shipping boxes and envelopes straight from the app and not have to order by email from Victory Packaging.

Bottom line, don't freak, explore!

 C'mon Salvation Army! Really?

On Wednesdays, I like to go to both Salvation Army and Goodwill in search of great items for resell in my closet.  Lately, I've been really disappointed in both but very disappointed in Salvation Army.

I get that both organizations rely on sales to support the good work they do.  However, must you put a price tag on these items that is absolutely ridiculous. Take a look!

Isn't this interesting?  As you can see, Marshall's had priced it at $15.  The tag behind it is the Salvation Army tag.  Yep, that's $30!  Why would they price it at twice what Marshall's had?

Crazy, huh?
This is not a one time thing.  I've seen it many times. I try to find items that cost me no more than $4 so I have a better chance of making a little money on it when I sell it.  These thrift stores are asking 12, 24, even as high as 50 dollars for items that have tags or are a good name brand but, seriously, why?  People are not buying the items marked so high.  I'd spend more if they had their .99 cent sale that they no longer do.

So, I have updated my philosophy.  I will look for items with original tags that will not cost me ore than $4 to buy!

I live in an area that has two Goodwills and one Salvation Army.  In nearby towns, there is another Salvation Army and three Goodwills.  However, the selection is limited and none run super sales nor do they have bins to search through.

My best place has been the SPCA thrift store but it has closed.  I do ok at Plato's C:oset when they run their clearance sales but that only happens three or four times a year.

I do ok at Label Shopper when they have their 50% off items marked 3,4, or 5 dollars.

I may find more if I am willing to go out of town or to another state but with gas prices going up that has to be put on hold.

I still have fun looking and shopping because I have found amazing items and hope to find more.  That adventuresome feeling keeps me going.

And, I do make sales.  I just held a clearance sale that will end on Saturday, March 21st at Midnight.

Get your deal before the sale ends!

Limited Time Only! Putting things on sale in my Poshmark Closet ENDS Sat, March 21st at Midnight

I must be craaaaazy!!! Yes, I am offering a huge sale opportunity.  This is an effort to:

A.  Clear space in my inventory for more stuff and

B.  Make a little bit of money that could help me a lot right now.

So, the offer is Bundle and Save:

Items $25 or less: 5 for $25 or

Items $15 or less:  5 for $15

I really need some major sales.  There are challenges happening in my life and even a little extra money will have an impact.  So, come one come all to shop my closet while this offer lasts.

To be honest, I make great offers all the time but no one likes letting things go for a song.  On average, the items I source cost me about $3.  When I sell for $3, I make a nickel.  That's a loss!  But, I have way too much stuff in my closet.  It is taking over one entire bedroom and two other closets in the house.

I need to make money not just sales.  Hopefully, those who take advantage of this offer will see the quality of my items and be willing to pay my list prices at another time.

Tell your friends to come shop my closet too.  Amazing what you can find.

What a haul!  I love sourcing for my Poshmark closet!

Look at this haul!  I had so much fun sourcing at Plato's Closet. Each February, they have a "Stuff a bag" sale.  They give you a regular plastic bag and you can stuff as much as you can for $10!

It wasn't even too crowded.  I was about 5th in line waiting for the doors to open.  Since I had done this last year, I knew what to expect.  There were many bins full of both men's and women's items in all sizes.  There were even shoes and accessories but that is not the type of thing you want to stuff in a plastic bag.

I also learned from last year to take a little time to check labels and avoid Shein, Forever 21, and other cheap brands.  I actually found a Zara skirt and some cute items that had no brand.  One item that I have never seen anything like it before. It's mauve velvet and has mesh sides and fold sequin fringe.

Unique!   And hard to describe!  I imagine it may have been a recital outfit for dance.
I love it and wish U were a tiny person again.  I've not seen size 4 since I lost 50+ pounds with Weight Watchers in my 40's or in my teens and early 20's.

I was going to just take my one bag but as I was paying, they told me I could get as many bags as I wanted! So, I did bag number two. In the end, I had 24 items for $20.  This worked out to about 83 cents per item.  This will definitely help my bottom line.

This trip was especially good because it was my first outing since the terrible snow and ice got me stuck in the house for two weeks!

I will get these items in my closet this week provided the sun comes out and helps me with lighting.  I am really excited to find out what treasures I found!  The process is fun too.  Take pix, use google lens to do the research, use Photoroom's virtual model to get a good representation of the item as the cover photo. fill in the description, and list! Love it.

You can do this too.  It's easy.  Since last Friday, I sold 4 items.  The week before, I sold two bundles and a couple more items.  It gets me coffee and lunch with friends!

Update on winter's impact on my closet!

I am so very ready for summer!  This winter has really taken its toll on me and my closet.  I put it on vacation hold thru Feb 4th.  By then, we could at least get to the mailbox.  I still cannot drive my car because there is a thick sheet of ice behind it that is practically impregnable.

I have made a sale today!  Hurrah!  I had sold a mystery box but discovered that Poshmark's app has a bit of a glitch.  It may, whenever, assign an original price that is inaccurate!

Here's what happened:  A buyer bought the mystery box for $20.  As I was reviewing the order, I saw that the original price was listed as $350!  I did not do that.  That definitely is not something I could provide for the buyer.  So, I had to message her and explain that Posh made that original price without my realizing it.  We agreed it should be canceled.  I quickly removed any mystery box listings (only one other) so people are not misled again.  Then, I went item by item through my closet and made sure all original prices were what I did and not Posh randomly doing it.  I do not know why this happened but it cost me a sale.  However, the person thanked me for letting jer know and not just sending something anyway.

Today, I sent a message to the 3,000 plus shoppers who have visited my closet.  I got a few bites and maybe something will come of that.

The follow club I cannot continue to do all the shares decided to feature me anyway.  Other people shares do not matter anymore but it does make contacts.  I will try to do all that sharing sometime.

That's where we are for now.  Daggone Punxsutawney Phil!  He saw his shadow and predicted six more weeks of this mess.  I've already been in this house for two weeks without going anywhere.  It's worse than that time spent in during Covid.  That's probably not true.

Please come visit my closet today!

Winter stalls sales! Had to put Poshmark closet on vacation hold for the first time ever!

I haven't written in a while.  I have not had the gumption to do much of anything lately.  And, not much had been happening.  I had some sales but nothing to crow about.

But, today, an adventure!  This past weekend we had snow which is enough of a problem by itself.  But, then, it sleeted! Really bad!  No kidding, there is at least an inch of solid ice on top of the snow!

I am nearly 70 years old (in about two weeks) and have osteoporosis which can be a mess if I fall! I had two orders that happened over the weekend and needed to get them mailed.  There was no way I was going to even try to drive anywhere.  Besides my car is completely encased in ice!

Yesterday, my husband made his way to the mailbox and did not have my orders!  He fell as he went ass over teacups on the sidewalk that was pure slick ice.  Maybe not that bad but he did end up trying to get up and had difficulty doing so.  I went out and was able to get a walking stick to him so he could get up.  I have no idea how I made it there and back without falling.

Today, I asked him to help me get to the mailbox. I didn't want to but those orders had to go out. So, out we went.  He went first and used a very heavy hammer to break the ice so we could get out feet in the snow,  Unfortunately, his steps were bigger than mine and right after moving from the door to the "path" he was creating, I slipped and all fours went in the air and I landed on my derriere!  Fortunately I did because any other position and I could've broken a bone or two!

He pounded a path to the mailbox and we slowly made our way.  Just as we got to the treacherous sidewalk, a good Samaritan showed up to make sure we were ok.  Did he accept her help?  No, of course not.  He successfully navigated the sidewalk and put the orders in the mailbox for the postman to pick up, if he comes.

The good Samaritan made sure we got back on our path to the house.  She is an Amazon driver and I wish I had asked her name so I could send a commendation for her to Amazon.

We made it back but when we got to the place I fell, I asked my husband for the hammer and I broke ice so I could make sure I did not slip again!

That's it.  We are not going anywhere until it melts!  I put my closet on hold because I am not risking a fall again!  As for my husband, he has agreed not to try and clear anything!  I need him around to help me!

Fortunately, we have everything we need and there's been no power outages here.  Besides, I am following the Aussie Open in tennis.  We have one American woman in the semis!  Go Jess Pegula!

What else can I do?  Or, How Can I Advertise My Poshmark Closet?

I cannot do live shows! And, now that Poshmark has basically done away with silent shows and so many people are doing live shows, I cannot get my stiff out there enough.  I need to make more sales.  But, how do I get people to engage with my closet?

I add posts to Instagram but I do not have many followers there so who sees it? I make ads for my story on Posh and in my closet but who sees them these days?  Stories are not on the shopping options anymore so no one sees it unless they actually select it in my closet. I do post to Pinterest but that, too, is a very random way to be seen.  I do my blog and a few people have accessed it and I even have five recruits to Poshmark!  That's something. I avoid adding to Facebook because that's family, friends, and former students and I do not want to mix business with just staying in touch with people.

Sharing my own closet many times a day is the best thing I can do.  Finding more followers helps too.  It is no longer helpful to share other people's closets so I withdrew from the daily drudge of the follow games I was doing.

Doing Pinterest and Instagram more frequently might help but I have no idea who has visited my closet because of what they saw on those two sites.

I do what Posh suggests:  I make the best and most accurate listings I can, I add items regularly, I share my closet several times a day, and I update when I do not have new items to add.

Too much inventory right now and a big need to move a lot out! I love to do the shopping/sourcing part so I've bought too much but how can I pass up Plato's Fill a Bag for nothing offer? And, the shopping gets me out of the house!!!

I suppose I am very worried about getting sales because we could really use the extra money right now.

Today, I added a comment to 3242 bundles of shoppers who have visited my closet. It really is my only advertising option

If you are taking the time to read my complaining, then you may have the same offer!  Buy 1 Get 2 of equal or lesser value free.  This is for everything in my closet!  Everything!

Happy New Year!  Reflections on 2025; Plans for 2026

I am so very grateful for Poshmark.  The company has not disappointed me, except once.  I am happy to have the diversion from my everyday life.  I retired from regular classroom teaching in 2013 and taught in a special situation for 5 years and another 5 online. I completely retired in 2023.

I started Posh in January 2020 just for fun.  Everyone else was making sourdough during Covid, I started poshing. I had no expectations, especially since I was still working.  In October 2021, I started helping my son by taking care of his boys.  So, I still did Poshmark but I did not devote a tremendous amount of time. May of 2023, I broke my ankle and was laid up for months.  Finally, this year, I was not taking care of the boys, was mobile again, and devoted more time to Poshmark than in the past.

I think I had a really good year. I can't say I made a whole lot but I kept busy, enjoyed what I was doing, and was happy that I made others happy too.  I made more than I spent!  Enough to go to dinner with friends once a month.

What I make is not the point.  What it does for me is what matters.  It makes me feel useful.  It keeps me focused on something other than just sitting around watching TV. It fills the empty next, at least a little.

I admit that I have bought way too much.  Much more than I need to so this coming year, I will cut back on spending by only getting items that are new with tags or are brands I cannot pass up.  I will NOT go crazy at Plato's Closet with the stuff the bag deals and the 80% off clearance!

I need to share my items more, try to get into the live shows, and use Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest to encourage traffic to my closet. And, of course, continue my blog!

In the opening, I said I was only disappointed once. Poshmark changed a few things a few weeks ago.  One was to remove Bulk Sharing.  The only easy way to share my items!  I freaked a little.  I wrote to customer support how important it was for me.  I bet a lot of people did too. They brought it back recently and what a blessing.

I do not know if it was the bulk sharing I did or the dropped prices but last week I sold 8 items in two days.  One of my grandsons helped me get all 8 packages ready.  He helped find the items, wrap in tissue paper, get in the envelope or box, and tape on the labels.  He was adorable.

Now, as I start the new year, I still have challenges to face but at least I have something to help me get my mind off my health and keep me busy.

I hope 2026 is a great year for all of us.

I am a bit frustrated with Thrift shops marking items at ridiculous prices!

I absolutely love sourcing for my closet.  My goal is to try and purchase items for less than $5.  Hopefully, closer to $3 or less even! I need that so I can make some money on the items.  If my price point is $20, Poshmark takes $4 and if I give $4.99 shipping, there goes another $1.50.  I'd make $14.40. Not bad.  But, most things sell for a lot less than $20.  In fact, to give you an idea of some typical sales, here's what's happened recently:

A top sold for $8 and I made 5.50.  Subtract $3 as an average of what I spent on it.  And, the net is only $2.50.

A pair of capris sold for $12 and I received $7.55 from Posh.  Subtract $3 and I made $4.55.

A bundle of 2 shirts sold for $19 and my earnings were $13.70.  Subtract $6 for what the two items cost me, and my net is $7.70.

Occasionally, I do make a big sale but the majority result in getting my money back for what I spent on them and a little income.

So, what Salvation Army and Goodwill think they are designer outlets, I get frustrated.

Yesterday, I went to my local Salvation Army.  On Wednesdays, four colors (they color code the tags) are 50% off.  Just about every time I found a NWT item of a decent brand, they had tagged it for $24.99!  Even at 50% off, I could not make money on that item.  I even found one item that had a original store tag that had $22.99 as the retail price and Salvation Army tagged it at $24.99!  Are you.......kidding me?

Moreover, many of these items they had priced out of my preferred range (6.99 or less) were not even great brands.  They had overpriced Shein, Forever 21, Rue 21, and Fashion Nova.

They already have tons of Zara that they sell at half price and most of it is junk because they are all flawed with things like broken zippers and tears!

Goodwill does this to some extent too.  I guess it is ok for people looking for a bargain and are buying for themselves but for resellers, it's a bummer.

Thank goodness I still have Plato's Closet and my local SPCA shop here in my hometown and the Curiosity Shop and Teen Challenge in my real hometown.  I've tried God's Thrift before but I remember their prices for secondhand to be outrageous with no deals.

I have so much inventory right now that I do not need anything else but I still love getting great deals with the hope of making more than a few dollars on them.

Conclusion:  Remember my reason for doing this is to keep me busy and focused on something meaningful so I have a distraction from all my worries.

Using Virtual Model in my Poshmark Closet

What do you think?  Personally, I think it adds a little bit of Professionalism to my photos.  Hopefully, it will get more people to check out the listing,  I use Photoroom and it is better than when it first became available.  It works best with dresses or any item that is obvious like a men's jacket or a short sleeve top.  It is still far from perfect so I do add a disclaimer in my description sayin the pic was done with AI and may not represent the item 100% as it is for real.  I include many pix so there should be no misunderstanding.

On another topic-  I have way too much stuff.  So, December is clear it all out month.  I will be offering the hottest deals ever!

And, finally, how did I do for November? Not bad. I made $207 net.  I spent a total of $38.57 for 38 items.  So, I cleared $165.20.  Please do not laugh.  To me, that's good.  It pays for my Panera dinner, trips to the diner with friends, and gas for the month.  Every little bit helps!

I hate when that happens! When I miss something on my listing and I have to cancel the sale on Poshmark

So, I had this gorgeous Faux Leather Jacket.  I listed it for $50. (I did find it at Salvation Army for a lot less) I accepted an offer for $35 and was absolutely thrilled until I started to package it and found a spot!  Yes, a tiny little spot that looks like a smidge of the faux leather has flaked off.

Daggone.  I messaged the buyer three times to see if she still wanted it and received no response.  Then, after at least 36 hours, I canceled the order because I could not send it in good conscience.  If a buyer requests a return, their only choice for the reason for return is to choose "Not as described".  Why, you may ask.  Well, there is no buyer's remorse on Poshmark.  Buyers beware because you may not return  the item for things like "didn't fit" or "changed my mind".

I did make a copy of the listing and changed the description to include the problem and make it a much lower price.  And, I will accept any offer where I at least get my money back.

I did the right thing.  Nonetheless, it hurts a bit.  However, on the bright side, I have made sales everyday for over a week.  That makes me very happy.

I won't make that mistake again!  Why I spent almost three hours fixing my listing prices on my Poshmark Closet!

Yesterday, I saw the "Drop Prices Now" banner on my feed and decided I'd try it again.  After all, last time it did result in a few sales! So, I went to Bulk drop prices and put in 50% and hit the go button.  Boy howdy, did I think I was smart or what?

Apparently, I was not!  In a few minutes I made a sale on an item I had listed at at least 10 or 15 dollars.  It sold for $4!  WTF! I made all of .05.  I spent more on the tissue paper, card, and tape than that for sure. So, I looked at other items in my closet.  My Ann Taylor wedding dress was now listed at $87! I had it at $225!

OMG, everything was way too low.  I do not know what happened but it had to be fixed.  Some were even marked as not for sale because it lowered the item to $2.  I have over 840 listings.  I had too go into each listing, edit it to restore a reasonable price and list it again.  Let's see, I started around 8:30 and finished at the middle of Carol Burnett reruns that came on at 11!  About 3 hours!

When I was working on them, I noticed that I did not lose the likes or offers on anything but some of the offers were higher than the listing price the automated system generated!  I'm sad to lose money on the item sold but glad it brought the issue to my attention.  It's all fixed now, thank goodness.

Chalk it up to lesson-learned.

I always make generous offers because I just like finding good items and and getting them to people who really want them and will appreciate them.  However, I do like making a bit more than nothing or .05!

For the rest of November, deals include:

1. 30% off all likes

2. Extra 20% off bundles

3.  Free gift with $25 purchase

4. Free shipping on purchase of $50 or more

Maybe change is a good thing!  Update on Poshmark changes.

Over the weekend and through today, Thursday, November 19, I have made 8 sales!  I know that does not seem like much but, for me, it is great!  I need to make money now more than ever so making sales is great.

Is the new algorithm based on relevance better than the share and follow model?  I do not really know but if sales continues like this then, yea, it's better.

I did write Support because I need Bulk Share and they removed it in these last changes.  I cannot compete in sharing with other closets because so many of them use Virtual Assistants.  Plus, it takes a lot of time to share one at a time. Sometimes 45 minutes!  I can't do anything else during that time.

I also see that my last active is still not working but it's stuck on 3 hours so if people see that, no problem! Whether I've been on or not, they will think it was 3 hours ago.

I have a ton of things to picture and get into my closet but I've just not been up to it for a few weeks. Why is a whole other story that I am not going into here.  Nothing major or sordid, just a health issue that takes some time to get back to 100%.

Anyway, my haul at Plato's closet and the last few trips to Salvation Army and Goodwill are sitting in my Posh room anxious to get into the closet! I will get there soon.  A little at a time.

Here's to more sales!!!!!

More Changes on Poshmark......Some are not good for me!

Poshmark changed from a share and follow to a "Just for You" thing (I do not understand algorithms) which is supposed to be better for buyers to find what they are looking for and, they say, will help buyers find our items.

Before we were told to share often, share each others, and follow each other too.  Now, we have been told sharing our own listings is good but sharing someone else's will have little impact.  No need to follow either.  This is a major shift.  I have gotten likes on some items and I cannot tell yet if it has impacted anything for me.

I also read that Poshmark has made a deal of some sort with Facebook Marketplace to give our items a wider audience.

Why must programs always change where the icons are, what the listings look like etc...? If it functions then why change?  Now, the share button is so small my fat little fingers cannot hit it right and I end up going to the listing instead.  This is annoying and time-consuming.

The biggest change is they removed "Bulk Share"!  This means I have to share my items one at a time- all 800+.  ONE AT A TIME! I have rheumatoid arthritis and when it flares, I can barely move my fingers to tap the icons.

One more change was the info on our banner.  They changed follows and shares to last active and average shipping. I like that because I am often active and have good shipping 0 same day!  However, the last active is stuck on 3 hours.  I asked support and for the first time they did not fix the problem.  They said to change my font size but that did nothing.

My other concern is that many of the big sellers use Virtual Assistants to share their items.  This means they hit the top of any feeds whatever they are more than I can sharing one at a time.  I am NOT going to spend my profits on a VA.  I am doing this for fun but I do want it produce a little profit.

So, Poshmark if you are listening, please bring back Bulk Share!

SOURCING SENSATION!

Remember the York Peppermint Patty commercial? Today, I got the sensation for sure.  I had a great adventure last Saturday and this Saturday!

I love sourcing in all thrift stores. I like the search for that one item to make my day.
Last Saturday, Plato's Closet ran a $1 sale on a lot of inventory they no longer wanted.

I couldn't wait to get there!  In the back of the store there were about a dozen bins full of tons of clothes.  It wasn't very crowded and those who were also scrounging through the items looking for that one gem or many gems were having as much fun as I was.  We talked, laughed and scored a great haul of clothes. I bought twenty items.
I didn't take them into the house when I got home because I have no place to put them.  I have to reorganize my inventory to make room for more.

Plato's Closet sent out a text this week saying "This Saturday come and free clothes! FREE! "
I expected a scene like a Cabbage Patch kids sale on a Black Friday!

I'm happy to say I was wrong!

I got in line with all the other people chomping at the bit to get in! One of the employees gave everyone a plastic bag. I had my own but I'd need both eventually.
They opened up. Told us where to go and we went. No one ran or pushed anybody. We all just calmly walked various paths to the back of the store.

The bins were arranged on a long table two rows of five with another small table with more bins on the side.
I couldn't get in at first. But I was in the second row so I was closer than a few more rows behind me.
Soon, two girls moved away and I kept a space for the shy girl to break through. We had talked while in the second row.

The process was dig, pull, inspect, and keep or toss. No one fought, fussed, got mad or anything. In fact, everyone was very polite.  That was a heart-warming experience.  Good to know that my humble town people are still polite and kind.
I managed to move my way to the next bin until I was at the end of the table.

At that point, I decided I couldn't do anymore.
I found ten items. That doesn't sound like much but considering the situation, I was satisfied.
So, I went home to evaluate my merchandise.

I asked my husband to help bring in the three bags of clothes! I was tempted to tell him that I got them all today but I couldn't. That would be like coming home from fishing and spreading my arms wide and say, "It was this big".

I went through every item, 30 in all from last week and this.
Boy, did I get a sensation!

I had a few surprises.  One was actually a disappointment.  It was damaged. However, it was all great from there!

In the free items I had these brands Bloomchic, H&M, Express, Aerie, Urban Outfitters,  and a few more.
In the $1 items, I had Lulu's, Cabela, Zara, Asos Design, and more.
The most fantastic find was a dress by the very popular brand Free People! Yepper! Free People!

I love doing Poshmark. Yes, I source, a lot! Think of me as your personal shopper! The profit I may make on any one of these items cost me more than money. It includes time, travel, sorting, taking pictures, creating the listing that has many different parts to it. And paying Poshmark 20% as well as discounted shipping. There are other expenses too like tissue paper, thank you cards, business cards, packing supplies, and more.

I list them at fair market price based on their condition. The profits are often from $2 to " I can't believe I sold that.

I love Poshing!

Adapting to changes on Poshmark!

Good changes:
1. Lower shipping
2. Free ground advantage shipping materials
3. Better chance my items will be seen
4. Banner will have better info on Nov. 1st
5. Still keeps me busy

Not so good:
1. Silent shows are not promoted any longer and I may have to do live shows!

I have way too much inventory and need to make some sales!

Make a bundle of 2 or more items and I will give you a great discount

Poshmark gives me more of a chance at sales. Just stay active!

There have been some changes lately but so far it feels like it is all good for a little seller like me. I've had sales every week and it is fairly steady.  I'm not out to make a fortune or realize a minimum income every week.  I'm just enjoying the process and keeping busy.

Now, buyers can search easier for the items they want and all items in my closet may be easier to find rather than just being shared to my followers.

All I need to do is stay active.  So, how do I do that?

One:  I share my items at least three times a day.

Two:  I either list a new item or update listings that are over 90 days old every single day.

Three:  I still share from the two follow games I have been in for months.  It may not do anything to move items to the top of the search (I do not get all that algorithm stuff)  but it does update when I am active.

Four:  I check for likes, bundles, and comments often so I can respond in a timely fashion.

I also stay busy creating Canva ads that I can either post in my closet or post on Instagram and, hopefully, drive traffic to my closet.

For example, today I created Mystery Box ads and I will share them on Instagram with links to my closet and this blog.  Maybe someone will check it out and visit my closet and/or blog.  Then, maybe, they will sign up using my code and I will benefit from it.

Here are the ads:

My inventory is huge!  I have over 800 unsold items.  I have a ton of stuff to add so I need to thin it out a bit.  I'm hoping to make someone's day by sending them a great deal.  I will select 6 to 8 items from my closet in the sizes indicated and include a gift (probably a sample of a facial care product or a cosmetic bag).   All items will be excellent and the buyer could keep for herself/himself or use them for resell.  Maybe they will have more luck than I have.

One guarantee:  I will NOT send crappy stuff!  When I first started selling, I bought a mystery box and BOY, was I disappointed!  It was stuff I wouldn't even take to Goodwill!  From the little girl's Micky Mouse dress to the dirty t-shirt, I fussed at myself for falling for the deal.  BUT, lesson learned, I will never do the same to someone else.

Please visit my closet soon and I hope you will find a deal you cannot refuse.
